55/365

The young men came over for an activity cause Dan is the ym president, and Evie wanted to feel involved. She was so serious about playing the wii.

This is Emmett's new thing, licking his lips.

Daddy daughter date

So, Britany told me to write about the "daddy daughter dance" that I took Evie to a couple weeks ago.  I have to say it was a pretty sweet experience.  I thought Evie was going to be tired and grumpy since the dance started so late, but I was wrong.  We started out waiting in line to be seated.  A nice lady took us to our table, which somebody had stolen, so Evie and I waited while they reassigned us.  I guess the person who stole our RESERVED table was high ranking or looked really scarey.  It didn't matter though, we got a nice table for two with elaborate decorations that Evie proceeded to tear apart.  Half of the decorations were Dove chocolates scattered across the table, but for the first time in her life Evie showed no interest in eating candy.  She was pretty overwhelmed at first with the fine settings and the disco lights and all the people.  There was a dance floor in the middle of the dining area, with tables on either side for the dinner service.  Evie and I noticed our friends, the Talbots, seated on the other side of the floor, so to kill time until food arrived we crossed the dance floor to talk to them.  Then, probably my favorite moment with Evie so far happened.  To this date, I still think that was the first time Evie had even seen a dance floor so I have no idea where she got this idea.  But, in the middle of our conversation with the Talbots, Evie grabbed both my hands and led me over to the middle of the dance floor.  Keep in mind, dancing hadn't started yet so we were alone on the floor.  She then faced me, put both my hands together, and gently layed her head on them.  I just wanted to pick her up and hug her forever!  I have no idea where she got that from.  Anyway, the DJ seemed inspired by our little performance so he quickly got the festivities going and we were soon joined by plenty of enthusiastic little dancers with their dads in tow.  Evie and I spent practically the entire night on the floor.  Our (EXPENSIVE) four-course meals remained largely untouched.  Every time I tried to guide Evie back to our table for a bite, she would stubbornly insist we return to the floor to carve out our little corner.  She would watch other people dancing, then try to mimic their moves with me.  It usually involved a lot of jumping and walking in circles.  She stayed up hours past her bedtime, but didn't show the slightest signs of giving in.  My little sweetheart is quite the dancer.  All in all a very successful night, one of my favorite moments so far of being a father.  By the way, if future Dan reads this and wonders why historic Dan was such a pansy, Britany made me write it.  Stop judging us.

Every part of him is totally kissable. Dan took this picture, so it's a little blurry, but I still like it.

This was a cute moment with these two.

50 days down! Yay!!
This is what we do when it's too cold to go to the park, but we're too bored to stay inside. We play in the hallway! Sorry, neighbors.

Look at this little man sitting on the couch watching tv. He's getting so big, and it makes me sad. And happy.

Emmett decided that he liked strawberries today. Yay! Finally a food he likes. This was the aftermath.

After naps on Sunday, we played, had dinner, and ate some of the cake we decorated yesterday.

This was the day after Valentine's Day, but this is when we celebrated. There was a place downtown that we went to on our date, where you can decorate your own cakes. It was so super fun.

We had a lot of fun today, and Emmett decided not to take any naps because of that, so he fell asleep on the couch. Around 6.

We went downtown to the dada store with Jeanette and her daughter, Heidi, and then had a delicious lunch at Seoga and Cook. Yum. It was so fun to spend some time with Jeanette. Love them.

Later, Edin and Schy came over to play, and Emmett and Edin had so much fun together. BFF's.
