Sick, sick, sick

Yay for presidents day weekend. Dan got Friday and Monday off for the holiday and we were so excited to go and do some fun things and spend some time together. But, alas, that did not happen. And here is why:

On Tuesday last week evie started throwing up copious amounts at random times. This was a fun day for me as I couldn't predict when or where she would throw up, so a lot of laundry was done and I followed evie around with windex. Other than vomiting at an alarming rate, evelyn seemed perfectly fine. Then, on Wednesday, evie really started to be sick. Fever, vomiting, the works. She basically slept on me all day long. This continued until about Friday when she finally started feeling better (yay!), but unfortunately, Friday was dooms day for me. I woke up that morning not feeling great and then all the sudden it hit me, wham, and I was hitting up the bathroom every hour. I don't remember much about Friday except that Dan was home, thank goodness, so he took care of evie and me. So, on Saturday I was slowly starting to feel a little better, and by the end of the day, I could even walk down the stairs (personal best). As fate would have it, as soon as I was starting to feel somewhat normal again, the sickness hit Dan like a ton of bricks. The rest of Saturday was spent taking turns napping and taking care of evie. I'm pretty sure you could have made a funny sitcom out of us that day, because I'm sure it was quite a depressing sight. Two sick parents like jello on the couch, watching as their ten month old daughter tears up the house like its going outta style. Needless to say, we stayed home from church on Sunday and tried to continue taking care of one another. Monday, Dan was still sick, but I was somewhat recovered, so I took care of him and evie most of the day. And that was our grand four day weekend. You should maybe be a bit jealous. We party hard.

Valentine number 2

As mentioned already, Dan got the date wrong for Valentine's, so we celebrated a week early. But, I wanted to give Dan something in return for giving me the best day ever, so we celebrated again on Saturday. I know VDay was today, but it's a Tuesday and there was no way we were going to have time during the week, so Saturday it was. We put our babe to bed and started our festivities. We began with making smores, which turned out great btw, and then we put our tent up in the family room. Putting the tent up was quite the adventure because there isn't nearly as much room as you would normally need, but we made it work. All of this was supposed to be a surprise for Dan set up on our front lawn, but wouldn't you know, the only day it got cold this year was Saturday night. But, having our date in a tent in the middle of our house was more fun anyway. We cuddled up inside our tent, ate smores, and watched a silly movie which we made fun of the whole time. It was perfect. I am so glad to have this man in my life. He is the perfect Valentine and I just can't imagine anything better.

Happy Valentine's Day!

10 months

Evelyn, you're 10 months old today! You are getting SO big. Sometimes I think you don't really need me around anymore because you're so mobile and so smart. Some of your favorite things this month have been:
  • giving mom and dad big, slobbery kisses
  • yelling at the top of your lungs
  • talking all day long
  • crawling! You finally discovered how to really crawl, and you are all over the place
  • pulling yourself up on anything. Including the Verizon guy who installed our TV
  • smiling at absolutely everyone because you love the attention
  • waiting for your dad to come home and then latching onto him
  • playing with mom's locket
  • walking round and round the ottoman
  • your little balls that go with your slide. You like to throw them, crawl over to them, and pounce.
  • being read to by daddy
  • all electronics
  • any food that is not yours
  • going places in the car
  • feeding yourself

You are such a joy to be around, my Evie Lou. You just talk, giggle, and scream all day long. Once in a while you will crawl over to me so I can pick you up, but it's only for a moment and then you're off again. Those small moments when you hug and kiss me make my world go round, though, and I live every day for you. I love your sweet little personality and how content you are most of the time. You love to make people laugh, so when you realize someone is laughing, you laugh too and repeat whatever it was you did to make that person laugh. Like, sticking your belly out to balance on your toys, or giving your dad a wet willy. We love you so much baby girl. Thanks for making our lives a million times better simply by being you.

Febuary 4th, the other Valentine's Day

Despite reminding Dan that Valentine's Day is February 14th every year, he still managed to think that the 4th was the big day instead. So, he planned this whole extravagant day for the two of us a week early. No complaining here though! Two V-days!? I'm in. On Saturday, Dan surprised me in the morning with horseback riding. I was so excited I cried a little bit. I LOVE, love, love horses. Riding horses is seriously one of my very favorite things, and I wish I owned a horse so I could do it all the time. Dan, on the other hand, had never ridden a horse IN HIS LIFE. You're thinking, "but he's a Veterinarian, right?" True, and he can tell you all kinds of medical things about horses and how to treat them, but has never actually been on one. This little known fact makes his gift to me that much sweeter. I had an absolute blast and did manage to take a few pictures while on my horse, not an easy thing to do. Dan took one of me at the very end, but it's at a weird angle and I swear I look like I weigh 400lbs, so we're not showing that one.

hey there, good lookin'
That night, Dan made ME dinner while I sat on the couch and watched TV. It was excellent. I can't remember the last time anyone cooked for me, so it was the perfect gift, and the food was delicious. I just love that sweet man of mine.

bored

So, today evelyn has not wanted a whole lot to do with me. She just does laps around the house and entertains herself, which is awesome. Except now I have more free time than I've had since before she was born. What did I do with all that time? Today I made dinner, baked brownies, cleaned the kitchen, started the laundry, and ran to the mall with a friend. It seems like a lot, but its only 4pm. I am open to cheap, easy, and fun craft or hobby ideas.

Nothin to talk about

I keep thinking to myself, "I really need to update my blog", but I don't have anything interesting to say. It's unfortunate. My days are spent watching Evie makes laps around the house, cause she's a pro at crawling now. Did I tell you? I basically just monitor her and make sure she doesn't eat anything too dangerous. Last month she found a thumb tack and put it in her mouth. Luckily, I got it out before any damage was done, but that just about gave me a heart attack. My house is a complete disaster because I cannot seem to get down a good cleaning regiment and because most of the time I am just too dang lazy. Evelyn is loving being mobile and able to go wherever she wants to go. She has turned into a pretty low maintenance little girl and I am really enjoying it. She just crawls around, squealing the whole time, and tries to find new ways to scare me to death, like getting to the second step on the stairs, or almost eating a dead bug I didn't know existed. I think she is starting to feel better because she is eating and sleeping again. Yay! Unfortunately, she has reverted back to waking up at 4am everyday thinking that she needs to eat. Being sick is the pits. Right now she is napping and I SHOULD be doing the dishes, or folding laundry, or cleaning the kitchen, but instead I think I will finish blogging and then read a book. See what I mean about being lazy? It's a sickness. Evie and I did go on a walk today though, so I get points for that.

Dan is still really busy at work, but he's trying to get the last week of March off so that we can go to SLC and see his family. Hopefully that works out. He hasn't been back to Utah in over a year I think. He is such an amazing man and I love him.
