Grey turtleneck, green dress from Target, black Crocs

This is the most comfortable dress I own. I could sleep in it, seriously. And while we're on the subject of comfort, these Crocs are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and they're Sunday shoes! Plus! So, all in all a very comfortable day, which is great because our four year olds were completely horrid today. All eight of them decided to be completely unhinged and unmanageable. We're exhausted. Enjoy your Sunday!

Green shirt from a long time ago, jean skirt from Target, brown boots

The reason why I was all dressed up on a Saturday morning is because we went to the temple! Yay! It takes us three hours to drive to the Winter Quarters temple, so we make it an all day thing.

This is us driving to the temple with our good friends Geoff and Jessica. We're attractive.

After doing sealings, we ate at Olive Garden for lunch. Yum.

We got back into Manhattan just in time to go to the institute ice skating activity and it was so much fun! Regretfully, I left my camera in the car and didn't get any pictures. Geoff and Dan had a lot of fun trying to be figure skaters and luckily, no one was seriously injured. Overall, it was a really fun day.

AE blue long sleeve shirt, favorite blue jeans, scarf from Target, black Crocs

Tonight Dan and I actually went on a date! Yay! We're really poor though, so we did one of our most favorite dates. Don't worry, I'm going to tell you about it.

We're really excited to be going out!

One of our favorite really cheap dates is to go from drive-in to drive-in getting one thing each off the dollar menu. We each get to spend $4. Then, we go to DigitalShelf and rent a movie.

We watched the Brothers Bloom. If you haven't seen it, you should. It was so funny and so well done.

So, that was my outfit and this was our date.

Light blue DownEast long sleeve shirt, black Aerie pants, black Ugg boots

I am seriously the least photogenic person on the planet. This picture (with no face showing) was the best of the worst. Seriously. I'm not sure what I am going to do from now on. It makes me very self-conscious to post these pictures of me. lol. Ah well. I have always hated pictures of myself, so I guess it shouldn't be different now. But, seriously, do I look like this all the time or is the camera just always catching my bad side? Yikes.

Wow, anyways. Today I had a test early in the morning, so I wore the most comfortable pants I own. I seriously love these suckers and wear them A LOT, so you'll definitely be seeing them again. In other news, I took a three hour nap today. It was awesome.

Our life as of Late

All week this is what I have been doing:

All week Dan has been doing this:

I haven't spent any time with my husband since Sunday. :( I hate being this busy. I haven't read a book just for fun in a really long time. I even have this big long list of books that I can't wait to read and am so excited about, but there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything I want to do. I feel like I'm being stretched too thin, and even when I start feeling this way I look at Dan and then feel bad that I am feeling sorry for myself. Because even though I am feeling overwhelmed, he is easily twice as much so as me. I just wish that we could sit and talk for a while or cuddle and watch a movie. We haven't done any of that in ages. I can't wait for this weekend because we are going to go to the temple on Saturday, which will give us plenty of quality time in the car, and on Sundays we get to relax and hang out. I am really just missing him and missing recreational fun. That's all my complaining for now.

AE blue v-neck sweater, grey DownEast lace cami, grey half-jacket thingie, AE skinny jeans, black Ugg boots

Nothing too great about this one. I haven't worn this little grey jacket in a while and was trying to think of a way to incorporate it somehow, so here you go. I had to see the lady doctor today and was in school until 3, so I mostly just wanted to be comfortable. Sorry that this outfit is a little weird and is somewhat dull, but it was really comfortable. You've no idea.

On that note, can we just talk about my Ugg boots for a second? I have resisted getting them forever because I think that they are hideously ugly. Seriously. Not to mention all the girls in all the sororities wear them, which instantly makes me not want them. But, this semester I have to walk about a mile every other morning to get to a class and I had no shoes that were comfortable enough and warm enough for this venture. And so, I caved and finally bought some Uggs. We now have a love/hate relationship. I still think they are ugly, but man are they just the most comfortable thing I own. They are great for walking long distances and even when it's freezing outside my toes are toasty warm. Anywho, that's my speal.

four

Turtleneck white sweater that I haven't touched in over a year, AE skinny jeans, brown boots

It was so cold today, so most of my pictures with this outfit looked like this. oh well. This one was inspired by my cousin's day four outfit, even though hers is soooo much cuter.

Today was pretty uneventful. But, here is my TO-DO list:
-go to the bank and get quarters
-do the laundry
-start on book report
-write a response paper
-start revision of last response paper
-read Alice in Wonderland
-make dinner
-go to bed

The End

Sleeping

So, last night I woke up at like 1:30 and Dan was literally sleeping on my pillow and almost pushing me off the bed. He has never done anything like this before, usually we keep to our sides and everyone is happy. I have a really hard time sleeping if someone is touching me at all, so this woke me up completely because he was cuddling with me and I was overheated. It would have been adorable if it wasn't so obnoxious. Because of this, I couldn't go back to sleep. I tried desperately to push him back over to his pillow and everything, but he is a stubborn little bugger. Needless to say, I didn't get back to sleep until almost 3 and I spent most of my time on the couch. Silly husband.

three

American Eagle V-Neck long sleeve shirt, cardigan from Target, favorite American Eagle blue jeans, (Not pictured: shoes- FAVORITE moccasins)

So... I forgot I had all of these things (except the jeans and moccasins) and so I wore them today, because that's the whole point of this right? To wear things that you don't wear all the time. Today was really cold and it snowed a lot last night, so I wanted to be warm and comfortable.

Also Today:
-I had a terrible headache
- was in school until 5
-decided that nowhere in my apartment takes good pictures, hence the outside
-slid on the ice outside the building of my first class and fell. hard.
-I have about a million more things to do tonight and it's only 6pm.

So far, so good. lol. It's going to be a great week!

two

Calvin Klein sweater dress, brown boots

I just have to say that this is a lot of fun. And, it's nice to not have to think of something witty to be the subject on my posts. This challenge is forcing me to dress better and do my hair, which is definitely a good thing. lol. Also, can I just talk about Dan for a second? Could he be any cuter? He is almost as excited about this as I am. He keeps asking me what I am going to wear next and if he can take my picture. He is my own personal photographer. It's super cute. So, here is Dan's Sunday outfit.

Rodeo

So, last night we went to the K-State rodeo. Let me just preface this by saying that I LOVE rodeos. I go to this one every year, and I grew up in Texas going to rodeos, so it's in my blood. It was so much fun and the best part was being able to hang out with some people I haven't seen in a while. The bull riding is always the favorite event, but all of it was so much fun to watch. The people in rodeos are so insane and completely fearless, which actually makes it more fun to watch. I love the event where one guy jumps off his horse onto a steer and tackles it. Totally awesome. Here are some pictures. I didn't get any good action pictures and most of the pictures of people turned out blurry. Oh well.

On a completely different note:

My super awesome cousin, Jessica, is doing a 30 day wardrobe challenge because her husband doesn't think she wears everything she owns. So, I decided to try and do this with her. I doubt I will make it 30 days, but there are a lot of things in my closet I haven't worn in a LONG time, and it might be really fun. This picture is super awkward and I didn't know what to do with my hands, but oh well.

One

Black turtleneck, grey DownEast top, favorite blue jeans (you'll be seeing these a lot), and black Ugg boots.

Pathetic

Lately I've been feeling lonely. Not in the sense that I have no one to talk to or that just hanging out with Dan isn't enough (because who could ever get enough of him?), but I have come to the realization that slowly, over time, I have lost all my friends. I don't have any real friends anymore, and I have to say that most of that is probably my fault. I have been so preoccupied with being married that I have forgotten about everything else and no longer make the effort to hang out with anyone. Some of it isn't my fault though, to be fair. Lianne moved to Dallas, Kasie moved to Utah, and Jessica got married. So, along with me being unmotivated to call anyone, everyone has moved away or are too busy to do anything. So, because of this, I find myself longing for a gal pal to just hang out with sometimes. Dan and I have several couples friends that we hang with quite a lot, but I would really like someone for just me. Is that weird? Am I being over dramatic? That's totally possible... I don't want anyone to think that I am unhappy, because I am the most happily married person on the planet and my life couldn't be more blessed, but I guess I'm just really missing my friends. Kasie has been telling me all about all these fun things that she is doing with her new friends in Utah and I just miss her. I miss going out with the girls and doing things. Anyways... That's my pathetic ranting for now.

Valentine's Day

March '08

This will be Dan and I's third Valentine's Day together, but the first one as a married couple. I wish that we could do more to celebrate this year, but we just don't have the money. Sad. So, on Sunday I am going to make pork chops and eclair cake and it is going to be delicious. Plus, we are going to get out our super fancy glasses from our wedding and drink sparkling cider, cuddle, and watch a romantic movie. So, it will be a lot of fun.

Our first Valentine's Day ('08) went a little something like this:
We had only been dating for about 2 or 3 months, Dan was in his first year of vet school and was studying like a crazy person. We didn't get to go out or do anything on the actual day because he had a huge test the next day, so he was cramming for it. So, he came over to my apartment for a fifteen minute break to see me and to wish me a happy valentine's day. And then, as he was leaving, he gives me a card and pretty, little, red box. At this point, I am thinking oh no please don't propose to me, but he wasn't. Inside the box was a beautiful silver and diamonds necklace. It was the perfect first V-day, except for the not actually getting to spend time with him. He was planning on kissing me that night for the first time too, so that it would be even more romantic and we would both be able to remember the exact date that we first kissed, but I had a cold so he didn't. He did kiss me a couple weeks later, but that's another story,

Our second Valentine's Day ('09):
By the second V-day we were engaged and quite a bit more serious than last time, and we had been kissing for a while, so no pressure there. :) Dan was in his second year of vet school and still studying just as hard, but as luck would have it, he was able to spend most of the evening with me anyway. I made steak and potatoes and bought a red velvet cake for desert and then we watched a movie. It was a lot of fun. Dan almost cried he was so excited about the steak. I went into my room for something during dinner and on my pillow I found this:

I thought it was a really cute, thoughtful gesture of love, not as romantic as a necklace, but still adorable. By this point we were both very poor because we were trying to pay for a wedding and semi-honeymoon, but we made it work.

So, That is the story of our Valentine's Days
