Illnesses and Tests

Well folks, I have mono. It's very sad considering how much I need to get done. Now, I have to cut every day in half and make sure I sleep enough. sheesh.

Dan and I have developed a new, completely unhealthy, obsession with the show Hell's Kitchen. We just HAVE to keep watching! What is going to happen next? Did that seriously just happen? It's intense. For our date last night, we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and spent the rest of the night cuddled up watching Hell's Kitchen. Oh so much fun.

Unfortunately, because I'm sick, my doctor has me on a strict diet. I'm supposed to be eating light foods like toast and oatmeal, but I cheat as often as I possibly can. When Dan isn't looking, I'll eat a whole pizza cause I'm so hungry, but I'll regret it almost instantly because my stomach gets so upset. Whatever, worth it. So, eating Mexican food wasn't a very good idea, but it was completely worth it. Delicious! A person can only eat so much oatmeal, so sometimes I step out on my "special diet". The really lame thing about having mono is that I'm sick all the time but I don't get out of any school for it! I'm supposed to be getting lots of rest, but how can I when I have to constantly be working. This is my dilemma.

Dan has a test this Friday and then 2 on the following Monday, so he's stressing a little. Vet school tests are really hard, so I hope he does okay. I have a german test on Monday that I'm pretty nervous about and I hope I can do well on that.

We got to go to the temple last Saturday with our good friends Geoff and Jessica. That was a lot of fun. It's kind of a funny story actually. We were supposed to be going to Omaha to the Winter Quarters Temple because that is our closest one, but because we've all been so busy we forgot to call until the day we were going. Whoops. So, we call the temple to set up an appointment and they're closed. Ha! What are the odds? In spite of this, we make an executive decision to go to the Oklahoma City temple instead. This may not seem like a big deal, but it is. Omaha is about 3 hours away, so that is a really long day, but the OKC temple is like 4 1/2 hours away. That was a REALLY long day. We left at 9 in the morning and got back that night at 11. It was fun though and we're really glad we got to go.

Geoff and Jessica at Olive Garden. Yay temple!! I would have put the picture of Dan and I after this, but it was a REALLY bad picture. We were tired.

That's pretty much all that has been going on with us lately. Football season has started so we're watching as many BYU games as we can. Dan might cry if we don't.

Update

School just started and we're both pretty sure we're going to die. Yeah.
These last couple of weeks could not have been more stressful and ridiculous. Hopefully our life settles down soon.
We LOVE our new apartment. It is such an improvement from the last one. I even decorated it! Yay!

The thing I keep saying over and over for comfort/ our theme lately:
If it wasn't this, it would be something else.

Love you all!

Honeymoon

So, after almost 5 months of being married we finally went on our honeymoon! It was so much fun!

On Monday we drove up to St.Louis and arrived at our hotel exhausted. I got a really great deal on a hotel from hotwire.com, but even knowing that is was a 4 star hotel didn't prepare us for what we saw. It was completely our of our league. Seriously. We weren't sure if we were supposed to be there or not, but we stayed there. Amazing. So, because we were so tired we really didn't do much on Monday except watch TV.

On Tuesday we went to the Gateway Arch and the Botanical Gardens. I think the arch was our favorite thing. It was so much fun! The gardens were beautiful and the cod fish pond was Dan's favorite. They were all different colors and would come right up to you hoping for some food. haha.

We're in the top of the arch here, looking out the windows

On Wednesday we went to the temple in St. Louis. Not a whole lot to say on that except that is was beautiful and we loved it.

On Thursday we went to the Zoo. The zoo there is free and you can tell. The animals are pretty scarce but there are tons and tons of shops. It felt more like a theme park. But, we had a lot of fun and the bears and penguins were by far our favorite.

On Friday we checked out, sad, and made the drive back to Manhattan and spent the whole rest of the day moving into our new, amazing, beautiful, apartment. We are REALLY excited about it. As soon as I'm done with it i'll take pictures and show everyone. You should come visit.

Stevo

Oh boy do I have a story! My mom and I went down to Nauvoo this past Thursday and Friday for one of my best friend's wedding. It was amazing. I love Nauvoo. We came back to my apartment on Friday and my mom stayed the night. Well, my mom snores, so I was sleeping on the couch. No biggie. Until I woke up because of a clap of thunder and decided that I was uncomfortable so I started walking back to the bedroom when all the sudden something hits my head. So, at this point I'm thinking what the heck? I continue walking forward assuming that I am just tired and delirious when I feel wind in my face and something flies over my head. At this point I know i'm not just tires and delirious. Before you ask, no I didn't scream. Words can't describe how proud I am of how not scared I was. So I go back into the bedroom, sit down on the bed, wake up my mom, and tell her that we have a bat in my apartment. She freaks and opens the door just a crack so see if she can see it. Surely enough, little Stevo is still flying around the living room and she saw him too. The next morning we looked everywhere for him, but we couldn't find him. Oh well right? On Saturday night I left my bedroom door shut and all the lights on in the rest of the apartment, so I never saw him. When I went to church on Sunday I left all the lights off in the apartment out of habit, so guess who I found when I got home from church? None other than my little bat friend Stevo. He was hanging from the ceiling against a wall. Cute little guy. I see him when I walk him, freeze momentarily, back up a little, and call Dan. Poor Dan is trying to tell me the proper way of catching a bat and wanting to make sure I put gloves on and cover up my exposed skin. I think he may have even asked me if I had a snow suit. I don't, by the way. After opening the front door and throwing things at him failed, I called our good friend James to come and help me. James succeeded in trapping Stevo and we rejoiced thinking the whole thing was over. Boy was I wrong. I guess I don't know my Husband quite as well as I should. Dan insisted that we bring Stevo to the vet school to get it checked for rabies. At this point, I'm pretty upset. He has sufficiently scared me to tears talking about rabies and how I didn't even need to be bitten by a bat to get it and because he's been in the apartment for a couple days it's good to check. So, we take Stevo to the vet school thinking that I am going to die a slow and painful death from rabies, which isn't probably true, and we're a little shaken up, James, Steph, and I that is. I haven't heard from the lab yet whether or not Stevo has potentially killed me, but I seriously doubt it. The moral of the story is this: Don't marry a man who is going to be a vet because if you ever come in contact with any animal, inevitably he will tell you about some disease said animal is probably carrying and will make you worry and run lab tests. On the other hand, he is gone which makes him more protective, and I actually find it cute. Mostly.

This is our little Stevo. He's sleeping. No matter what I threw at him he didn't wake up.

This is James being my hero. Stephanie was waiting outside because she's pregers and Dan scared us all so bad about rabies that we wouldn't let her come in.

Dan comes home tomorrow!!!!
And have I mentioned lately how much I hate this apartment? 10 fold now. Yay we're moving on Friday!

Move Out!

This last week I've been concentrating on just packing up our apartment. I wanted to get as much done as possible before Dan gets home because we only have a couple days to move when he does get home. Yay!! New apartment! Woot! My husband is back in 9 days!!! Single digits baby.

I'm watching Music and Lyrics with my mom. She has a huge thing for Hugh Grant. And, so do I, let's be honest. I love my mom. She's hysterical.

I helped my dad take down the dish off our roof this afternoon. My dad is now in his 60's, so I was nervous the whole time and held his ankles as well as the ladder to make sure he didn't fall off. haha. Love him.

Getting the oil changed on our baby for the first time on Monday. I may take pictures. Awww.

So.... that is what has been going on!

Last couple of weeks

So over the 4th of July weekend I got to go down to San Antonio and spend the weekend with Dan. It was amazing and just what we needed. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch on the riverwalk and wandered around the mall after that. We then ordered pizza and watched a movie. A seriously perfect day. The next day we went down for the complimentary breakfast, which was awesome, and then went back to the riverwalk, walked around for a while and watched the new transformers movie. On Sunday we went to church together and then I had to leave. Sad. It was seriously an amazing weekend. For my birthday Dan wrote me a long, sweet letter. It was the best birthday present ever combined with actually being able to be with him and have him read it to me. So nice.

For my actual birthday, my friend Jennifer took me to Worlds of Fun. It was a blast! My mom made me my traditional fried chicken and I ended up getting lots of books. So exciting! I love books and reading. I'm reading Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson that my wonderful mother-in-law sent me.

As most of you know, I was called as assistant camp director. So.... camp was this last week. It was a lot of fun, but mostly it was a lot of work. Looking back on my girls camp experience now I appreciate more what my leaders did for me and how much work they put into it. I think total I got 6 hours of sleep through 3 nights. 2 storms and some girl drama makes for little sleep. But, I'm resting now and feeling great.

Only 17 days until my Husband comes home.
